Women in Business, Small Business, EntrepreneursWant to be the next Sheryl Sandberg, Marissa Mayer or Oprah? What’s the key to growing a wildly profitable business fast and getting the brand attention and respect your small business deserves?

The blog Small Business Ideas for Women suggests “without credibility no business will truly be able to establish itself” and will “join the ranks of the many thousands that fail every year”.

Credibility isn’t just about being appealing to consumers, or even maximizing marketing ROI or profit margins. It is also about developing a better perceived reputation and more value among vendors, lenders, and potential investors.

So how do you develop more credibility, faster, both as a woman in the business arena and as a female small business owner?

Of course many might simply spurt out that credibility is earned through fulfilling your promises, transparency, not over selling, and even ensuring your workplace impression and employees exude credibility too.

So where do you start, especially as a solo entrepreneur or owner of a brand new startup?

For Small Business Owners:

·         Claim and build your Google Authorship

·         Write articles and publish them online (or have them ghost written for you)

·         Engage in guest blogging

·         Join industry associations

For Your Small Business:

·         Race to your first 1k Facebook Likes and Twitter followers

·         Craft and distribute your own press releases

·         Add what Google calls ‘advanced content’ for improving digital PR and SEO

·         Grab a toll free vanity number for instant brand boosting and credibility

So, small business owners, and all female professionals, you might be the best in your industry, offering the best deals in the world, and have a product no one should be trying to live without. Sadly, unless you’ve got credibility upfront you’ll never get the chance to get them in the door, or past your landing page to prove it.
