Verizon ‘Share Everything’ Data Plans the Best Idea for Mobile Marketing? by: Custom Toll Free , June 13, 2012 Verizon Wireless announces new Share Everything plan for mobile customers but is this the best move for mobile marketing? Verizon dumped its unlimited data plans last year and has been throttling the usage of those who have remained grandfathered in. Vice President of the phone company Tami Erwin says, Share Everything Plans are the new standard for wireless service but is that a good thing? According to PC Mag’s review a couple with one child wielding two smartphones and one basic phone would be paying $180 a month for just 4GB. That doesn’t even reflect the ludicrous taxes and fees levied on top of that. Of course that doesn’t cover any tablet usage either and as we all know 4GB doesn’t go far these days. So if this new trend in cutting back data usage sticks, will it cripple mobile marketing? We’ve all heard the predictions that Facebook is on its way out, so if not mobile marketing, which was pegged as the hottest advertising platform going forward, what’s next for marketers? Obviously business owners can’t afford to ditch social media anytime soon. With the roll out of Google + Local no business can afford not to be turning up their G+ presence. Facebook can’t be completely abandoned yet either. Mobile definitely offers one of the best marketing channels for the future, but entrepreneurs are going to have to get great at timing and getting consumers locked in with mobile apps they just can’t live without. However, offline marketing cannot be overlooked either. It may need a makeover, but the bottom line is the more startups and corporate giants squabbling over the little data many have available at the end of the month and bombarding social users, the more offline campaigns are going to grow in advertising effectiveness.
