At the height of the most recent economic boom, many companies felt they could afford just to throw marketing ideas against the wall to see what would stick. Most executives could still afford to golf several times a week, take plenty of expensive, exotic vacations and collect huge bonuses at the end of the year, but things are much different now. Regardless of the industry, only companies that are operating at the best profit margins and making positive strides to expand market share will survive in the coming months and years. This reality means companies must use smarter marketing strategies and pay attention to web analytics to find out which marketing campaigns are most effective. Can you imagine a business coach who prides himself on mentoring thousands of other business coaches on marketing but does not look at his web analytics and use the data to improve his own marketing strategies? It would be complete insanity and almost laughable. Along with using toll free numbers for testing marketing strategies, web analytics offer the most efficient and cost effective ways to improve advertising effectiveness and maximize marketing ROI. If you can afford to do that, that is great. But if you have partners or shareholders, it is surely not going to be appreciated.
