Apple just unveiled the new iPhone 5 in San Francisco, so is it a winner and what does it mean for the future of marketing?
Despite recent security concerns surrounding Apple, the web seems to love the new iPhone 5. It brings faster speeds, it has a 4″ screen, it’s thinner and lighter, and the camera functionalities have improved.
However, the dock connector has been switched much to the dismay of many current Apple users who will need to also get the Lighting adaptor in order to connect with their current accessories.
Besides this the major complaint there seems to be no better integration with Facebook. So while Zuckerberg denied rumors of a Facebook phone yesterday and said he was ready to take “big bets” it looks like Apple may not be so eager to take big bets on the longevity of Facebook. Unfortunately, while the west coast geeks might love seeing one of their own in the spotlight and desperately want Facebook to win in order to keep San Francisco and the tech industry’s reputations alive, many believe the social network’s best move is to push him into a corner office and that might happen pretty soon if the stock doesn’t see major gains.
However, what perhaps stood out most from Apple CEO Tim Cook’s pitch at the iPhone 5 product launch was the number of iPads being moved; 84 million as of June and more than any PC manufacturer’s entire product line.
Entrepreneurs and business owners need to take mobile seriously. In addition, between tablets and new smart phone releases, mobile will be how the majority of consumers most often connect to the web. So get those new mobile apps in the air before Christmas to capitalize on the gift giving season.
