Election 2012: Google for President? by: 00juno , October 10, 2012 Is Google fixing the 2012 presidential election race, which candidate is better at SEO and should Google founders run for office? Is it purely coincidence that talk of cracking down on Google for fixing search results has oddly gone away in the run up to the 2012 election? Have you wondered why and why the search giant has gotten away with so much recently? Election Fixing Alert? We've all heard about how David Siegel claimed he won the election for Bush and has been trying to influence employees via emailing "job threats" in the run up to this election but is Google now weighing in and influencing the vote too? At least this is the question that of all publishers the Huffington Post have raised and it could carry some weight. Ask a Romney supporter who they are voting for and they may look at you really odd, like you haven't been watching the news or economy for the last four years and snap back "why would any one vote for Obama?" – may be they are Google users. The Huffington Post comments on "The United States of Google" which appears to show a heavy bias towards positive Obama results from Google and negative results for Romney. Is it Time to Break Up Google? Google should be allowed to have its own voice, but even the most hardcore capitalist or Occupy protester has to ask whether influence on this level is safe, with so much trust being put in Google by the public. Are most people really aware of the bias potential Google has? Probably not and masses follow its results. Of course this could all be a mistake and Obama might just be better at SEO and online marketing in which case republican entrepreneurs at least owe him some respect for that. However, could this revelation be what Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook have been waiting for in order to capture more market share and force the downsizing of Google? Does Google's power turn you off? Will you be one of those to migrate to another search engine to take away its power or do they deserve major credit for achieving this level of influence, good or bad? Google for President? Whatever you believe and however you are voting for this is a powerful lesson in the power of Internet marketing. Maybe Google's founders should run for president in the next election.
