Most business owners don't even know that a poorly managed toll free number could be causing the company a problem! But yes, your toll free numbers may be mismanaged!

Businesses spend an incredible amount of money on toll free numbers each year. In fact, according to statistics, in one week over 91,500 toll free numbers are assigned. Obviously, toll free numbers are a huge industry. Even smaller companies may only have a handful of toll free numbers while others have hundreds.

Larger companies may end up with too many numbers and if they don't have an effective internal process in place, they will have difficulty accurately tracking all their lines. Similarly, medium sized companies may just not have the professional manpower to analyze regularly all their business lines, and small business owners may be too busy with bigger issues to watch their phone bills for accuracy.

Believe it or not, toll free numbers are all too often incorrectly routed or even lost. Unfortunately, this mismanagement can lead to massively expensive and disastrous mistakes. As a business owner or marketing director, not only your career can be on the line if business is lost, but it can mean complete financial ruin if it happens at a critical time. Just imagine you are launching one last marketing assault whose success could make or break the company. Even if your advertising copy is flawless, the graphics are pristine, and the positioning is perfect, if the numbers featured don't make it to your sales force, then you are doomed. The advertising or marketing companies you have used certainly won't offer you any refunds, that's for sure.

Your toll free numbers are like the veins of your business, pumping essential life-giving blood throughout your system. If they are blocked, it could easily mean the death of your business or at least a serious condition. So do not take managing your toll free numbers lightly. Make sure ALL of your toll free numbers are working correctly and have them checked regularly. Also ensure you have the right company managing your lines–a company that will work on your behalf and that cares enough to have the best interests of your business in mind. Keeping accurate toll free numbers is always in your best interest.
