Apple Attacks Google by: 00juno , June 12, 2012 En route to billionaire status, relishing in a reinvention of the internet spanning beyond Al Gore levels, Mark Zuckerberg considered the late Steve Jobs as a mentor toward righting the ship of success with the Facebook flag waving high amidst the cybernetic winds. With the loss of Steve Jobs, a void was left in the world of technological advancement leaving all eyes on Apple’s new leader, Tim Cook. Head of a company whose capital supersedes the annual gross-domestic product of several nations in the world, the pressure has been cooking as to what directions Apple will take in the future. As one of his final requests regarding the management of the company, Jobs asked Cook not to ask himself “what Steve Jobs would do…?” but rather see the company’s direction through Cook’s own eyes. With the Worldwide Developer’s Conference underway, sources are saying that Apple is picking its spots and going to war with Google. The first step is the inclusion of Apple’s sixth iOS, with full-Facebook integration. This integration will make for clear and easier means toward sharing content on Facebook. Google+ promises to add to an already expansive marketplace of social apps and amenities with an already-dominant position over the rival social media giant in terms of integration and advertising. Users generally spend 100x more time on Facebook than Google+ per month. Facebook will be implementing integration on Apple TV and iTunes on an unparalleled scale. It’s also rumored that Cook will announce the discontinuance of Google Maps on the iPhones, opting to install the more-integrative iMaps service. This convergence could prove to pay off for Facebook in terms of saving a falling stock. But Google is not going without a fight. Google recently purchased and shut down the Meebo, which most haven’t heard of. Meebo existed as an ingenious web service that combined one’s instant-messaging service that merged AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and other services, including Facebook chat, into one easy-to-use client. It was immensely useful during the MySpace days, but once throwing its hat into the social media-sphere, it couldn’t find a way toward profitability. Google bought out Meebo for a rumored $100 million price tag with hopes to beef up Google+ to something more substantial. “We are always looking for better ways to help users share content and connect with others across the Web,” a Google spokeswoman said in an e-mailed statement. “With the Meebo team’s expertise in social publisher tools, we believe they will be a great fit with the Google+ team.” Google and Apple had several clashes involving the integration of apps into Apple and HTC phones, leading to several patent battles.
