Hot Marketing Trends

Two new and important email marketing opportunities have risen in the last 48 hours and you can’t afford to overlook them!
First off Microsoft just unleashed a live preview of its new Outlook.com email service. The web-based email service is clearly a direct attempt to swipe some of Google’s market share and rid Microsoft of its Hotmail stigma. So far they are on the right track…
The Outlook.com inbox dashboard is crisp, clean, and a refreshing change. It offers unlimited storage, and uses SkyDrive to enable up to 7 gig attachments. Users will find social integration with one click and Skype will be worked in soon, though is not live yet.
Many users will really enjoy the lack of ads, though they are still there. Advertising will be fed by Bing but will not incorporate the Gmail like reading of users’ email to tailor ads.
While it may all be incredibly friendly from a consumer perspective, those who have test driven the email service already say it blocks far too many emails as junk, even though they can be unlocked.
At the same time Google has announced it will now incorporate Gmail into search results, providing an even more customized search engine experience. In other words, when a user types in a search phrase to Google, the search engine will also search the user’s emails and provide the best matching results.
This is incredibly important for marketing and just boosted the value of email marketing for all businesses in all industries. It means if you can get in their inbox, you can get on page one of their Google search results when looking for related services or products!
The new Outlook may be crisp, clean, and lean on ads but Google is much friendlier to marketers who bring in the revenues. This is where Facebook really fell apart. Hopefully Microsoft won’t meet the same fate but the odds are sooner or later they will worry more about monetization, once users are locked in.
However, besides the need to start shooting out a ton of emails for better SEO businesses and entrepreneurs need to recognize that this is a unique opportunity to grab up almost any Outlook.com email name before the masses and other marketers sign up. This means your business name, personal name, and one which matches your toll free vanity number.
