The Holiday Mobile Phone War is On

Apple, LG, and Samsung are set to go head to head for market share as holiday gift buying season warms up. Which will you give?
Despite the new iPhone 5 still being far inferior to the current Android line up in many ways, and perhaps not doing near enough to be a future phone that will last, Apple shares topped $700 yesterday.
However, even though the iPhone 5 seems to have brought confidence in the stock and sold out in an hour, Samsung still boasts double the market share, and while its Android technology might take more gambles on newer features you might offend many gift recipients by pushing an iPhone under their tree.
So it’s the Samsung Galaxy Note II going up against Apple this fall. With its mobile payment capabilities you can bet more entrepreneurs and retailers are actually hoping the Galaxy wins and ends up in the most hands.
At the same time LG seems to refuse to die, despite almost $1 billion in mobile loses in the last two years. The slick new Optimus G smartphone rolls off production lines to stores in Japan in a couple of weeks but won’t be on the market in the U.S. until November. Unfortunately, while LG has developed a reputation for smooth running, great looking phones, the tag on the new LG Optimus G at $900 a pop is going to have to be seriously subsidized by phone carriers if it is going to have any chance of staying in the fight against the iPhone 5 at just $199.
Smartphones can make great gifts but they can also be a pain for the recipient. Do they really want to change platforms and do they really want another incredibly expensive phone contract to deal with?
On the other hand, every entrepreneur needs a toll free number whether they are getting a new mobile phone for the holidays or not. The latest shared usage plans make them far cheaper and your special entrepreneur can transfer the number to ring on any new phone they might feel like switching to at any time.
As a nice side bonus, a toll free number could be just what was needed to boost their business and bring in more money so that they get you an even greater gift next year! What will you give this year?
